Privacy Policy

This policy explains, in plain English, what information ChildCare Connect ("we," "us") collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We believe the strongest privacy protection is collecting as little as possible — so that's how the Platform is built.

Information we collect

From childcare providers:

• Account information: your email address and a password (passwords are securely hashed — we cannot see them)
• Listing information you choose to publish: business name, contact name, phone, city, type of care, ages served, price range, and a description. This information is intended to be publicly visible to families using the Platform

From parents and families:

• When you send an inquiry to a provider: your name, email address, an optional child age range, and your message. This is shared only with the provider you contacted, so they can respond to you
• If you join our waitlist: the information you submit in the form (name, email, city, care preferences)

How we use information

• To operate the Platform: showing approved provider listings to families and delivering family inquiries to providers
• To communicate with you about your account, listing, or the Platform's launch
• To review provider listings before they are published

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for purposes unrelated to running ChildCare Connect.

Where your information lives

We use a small number of trusted services to run the Platform:

• Supabase — our database and account system (data encrypted in transit and at rest, hosted on AWS in the United States)
• GitHub Pages — hosts the website itself; like most web hosts, it may log basic technical data such as IP addresses
• Tally — processes our waitlist forms
• Google (Gmail) — handles our business email correspondence

Each of these providers has its own security practices and privacy policy. We do not give any other third parties access to your information except as required by law.

Cookies & local storage

If you create a provider account, the Platform stores a session token in your browser so you stay signed in between visits. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.

How long we keep information

Provider profiles remain as long as your account is active. Inquiry messages remain in the receiving provider's inbox. If you'd like your account or information deleted, email us and we'll remove it; limited records may be retained where required by law.

Your choices & rights

• Providers can view and edit their listing at any time through the provider portal
• Anyone can request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of their personal information by emailing us
• You can ask us to stop emailing you at any time

Children's privacy

The Platform is intended for adults — parents, guardians, and childcare providers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Access to provider accounts and inquiries is restricted by database-level security rules: providers can only access their own profiles and their own messages. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we design for minimal data and locked-down access.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes — for example, when we add new features like photo uploads, reviews, or payments — we will update this page and note the new effective date.
